About Us

Welcome to our shop! We’re Alex and Sally, a husband-and-wife team dedicated to crafting high-quality, handmade pottery with heart. Our journey with pottery began in an unexpected way during lockdown when, with my background as a chef, I craved a creative outlet beyond baking. We turned to pottery as a new adventure, and it quickly became our true passion—a passion we now pour into every piece we create.

As a small family business, we believe in the art of thoughtful craftsmanship. Every piece you find here is made entirely by one of us, and we pride ourselves on the care and detail that go into each item. From a simple mug to a delicate bowl, each creation is a true labour of love, reflecting our dedication to quality, functionality, and charm. You may notice unique characteristics in our pieces—a subtle glaze variation, a tiny ridge from our hands shaping the clay, or a soft mark left by our fingerprints. These features aren’t flaws; they’re the authentic signature of handcrafted work, giving each piece its own story and character.

Our process is meticulous, and we take pride in every stage of creation. From the careful preparation of clay to the final glaze firing, each item goes through multiple hands-on stages: wedging, throwing, drying, trimming, fettling, bisque firing, glazing, and the final kiln firing. Once complete, we hand-smooth each base and package it with care, ensuring it arrives safely for you to enjoy. Many pieces are made to order, which can mean a wait of up to six weeks as we let each item develop at its own natural pace.

We hope our pottery brings warmth and joy to your everyday moments, whether it’s a morning coffee ritual or a family meal. Thank you for supporting our family business and sharing in the journey of our handmade craft.

With warmth and gratitude,

Alex & Sally
